Do you know what muscle fatigue is? Have you ever felt it? In this article we will explain what it is and how to avoid it, in 5 steps, for the sake of your profitability and physical well-being.
Muscle Fatigue
You’ve probably already heard about muscle fatigue, relating it to tiredness and poor performance during physical exertion.
This phenomenon occurs when the muscle has been subject to intense physical effort, which is normal when the training or physical activity in question was done in a constant and high-intensity manner. The sensation is one of exhaustion, tiredness and a decrease in the muscle’s ability to produce force.
Central and Peripheral Muscle Fatigue
Muscle fatigue encompasses two parts – the central and the peripheral.
The central nervous structure affects muscle contraction. This type of fatigue occurs when the level of central nervous system stimulation is low. This occurs by inhibiting nerve impulses from a specific fatigued muscle zone.
Some factors are being studied and indicated as probable causes of central muscle fatigue:
Dehydration;
Decrease in blood glucose levels;
Failure in the action of certain neurotransmitters;
Plasma alteration of amino acid concentration;
Peripheral muscle fatigue is characterized by the deterioration of the muscle’s biochemical processes. That is, the limitation of muscle fibers, neuromuscular connections and nerves due to energy deficits. Energy deficit is one of the biggest drivers of peripheral muscle fatigue.
